I haven’t done a craft show in YEARS but decided that I wanted to participate in one that went on last weekend when I heard about it a couple of months ago. Since I am starting to get back into the creative field now that our youngest is in preschool, it was a great way for me to work toward a creative goal again. It was a ton of work so I don’t know that I’d do it again to be honest (unless I was strictly volunteering for iSanctuary and not making any of my own things). It’s just a bit much with both my heart and hands being full with the two sweet kiddos of mine at the moment. BUT I’m very glad I did it – it was a great event and really fun to be a part of it. (Here are a few of my favorite vendors but I would dare say that everyone was very talented, these are just the few I grabbed cards from or had the opportunity to meet… Thread Therapy, Hope and Stay, Stuck in the Coop, Silver Roots, and Little Wellies)
And I can’t mention the Virtue Lovely Market without mentioning the key note speaker right before the shopping began, Willie Jordan of Fred Jordan Missions. At 80 years young, she has devoted her life since she was a teenager to missionary work oversees and here in the states. She did take a “break” at one point to raise her seven children and support her husband in his work at the Mission and someone asked her at that time whatever happened to her calling (since she was now a stay at home mom and not out globe trotting on the mission field like before) and she said something to the effect that her calling hasn’t changed. She is still serving the Lord in whatever ways He asks.
Wow.
I loved hearing that perspective. Your circumstances of servanthood might change but the calling itself is the same.
Such a lovely woman who spoke the truth in a lovely way at a truly lovely event.
