Have you ever had “two cents” just drop right in front of you out of nowhere and they are just SO good that you HAVE TO pick them up and put them in your pocket? That’s what happened to me when I was in the car the other day for ten minutes by myself (a rare luxury for any stay at home mama) and just so happened to have a favorite radio station on, K-wave.
I caught part of a message that Rick Warren was giving. What I heard him say completely stopped me in my tracks and gave me a new perspective on something I had never thought about before. I literally pulled the car over and jotted down a paraphrase of what he said:
The Bible says “Blessed are the peace-makers“… not peace-lovers. A lot of people love peace but there are very few peace makers. So don’t just be a peace lover. Be a peace maker. Be an agent of reconciliation. Don’t be a wall builder. Be a bridge builder.
I was so impacted by the little that I heard that when I got home I looked it up and listened to the entire series in podcast form. It looks like it’s available here to listen to as well if you are interested.
So many of us at times (myself included) just want to live in our own little happy, peaceful place. But I truly believe that there is a special blessing when we decide to be a peace-maker rather than only a peace-lover.
“Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.” – James 3:17
