My parents gave us the cutest book (one for each kid) a couple of years ago called My Quotable Kid where we can record some of our kid’s best quotes. We all know that kids say the darndest things… like the time that K told me that he didn’t have to clean his room because he is a Storm Trooper and Storm Troopers don’t clean or when M told me that she could only drink chocolate milk because regular milk has nuts (at barely 3 years old she had noticed that her brother doesn’t eat certain things because of his nut allergy).
These are a few of my personal favorite quotes from two of my personal favorite kiddos this last year…

Me: “I hope you know that you don’t always have to pray with other people. You can pray in your heart any time.”
K: “Can I pray in my brain instead?”
—
K: “Mommy, I want to look at pictures of you from when you were a princess.” (meaning our wedding photo album)
—
K: “Mommy, a boy was hitting me at school today.”
Me: “Oh no. What did you do? Did you hit him back?”
K: “No.”
Me: “So what did you do?”
K: “I was just forgiving him.”
—
K to his little sister: “Jesus is the King … (pause) … And you’re not.”

When M was caught walking around the hallway in the middle of the night:
Me: “What are you doing up?”
She immediately started walking back towards bed and said:“I need more milk, darn it!”
—
M LOVES seeing babies and for some reason when she saw a baby in a stroller (who she had never met), she walked up to her and said: “Hi Baby. I love you Baby. We don’t say ‘what the heck’, Baby.”
—
M: “Daddy has to go to work. Isn’t that a bumma?”
—
At a recent large family function, M went around asking everyone how old they are. One conversation went like this:
M: “How old are you?’
R: “Well, I’m the oldest one here.”
M: “How old are you?”
R: “I’m 82.”
M: “Oh. I’m 3.”
Side Note: My sweet and talented friend of capturingmotherhood is the one behind the lens of these two photos and I do plan to share more that she took of our whole family soon.
